Solutions of the Sixth round 2008
XI This bird could be identified as a Sykes's Warbler Acrocephalus rama. It was photographed in Pushkar, Rajasthan, India, on 6 January 2008 by Sander Lagerveld. The identification of the bird is extensively discussed in Dutch Birding 31: 44-46, 2009.
XII This bird depicted in mystery photograph XII is a Red-backed Shrike Lanius collurio. It was photographed at El Gouna, Egypt on 11 September 2008 by Edwin Winkel. The identification of the bird is discussed in Dutch Birding 31: 44-46, 2009.
Winners
From those subscribed to Dutch Birding, 10 out of the 17 entrants (59%) managed to identify both mystery birds correctly. From these, Hannu Huhtinen was drawn as the winner of a copy of Petrels night and day by Magnus Robb, Killian Mullarney & The Sound Approach. Congratulations to him!
